Introducing the fabulous Paige! Paige was such a trooper, she endured some cool temps to get some amazing shots for her session. She also allowed us to do some dramatic makeup to add more impact to her edgy, dance stylized senior session.

I am super excited to announce that some of my Steampunk images were published by the Chicago based magazine Cloud Orchid. I was honored to be asked to do a pre-shoot for an upcoming event “Not in Kansas…A Steampunk Connection” and as a result some of the images were picked up and published by Cloud Orchid…super cool! I was so honored to be recently named Wisconsin Photographer of the Year by the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association for the second time in three years! Last year I was runner up, but to my surprise I won it back this year, sweet! I put a lot of hard work into my new studio in De Pere this year, so I didn’t feel that my entries were as strong as in the past, but to my surprise they scored very well and along with Photographer of the Year I also won a bunch of other awards.
Thank you all for supporting me in my new studio where I have been super excited to focus on shooting high school seniors in the De Pere and Green Bay area. Below are the images that won as well as a shot of the awards for those who like plaques and ribbonsThe next step is to send them onto the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) where they will be judged again for national awards.

Local Photographer Dan Frievalt Awarded Wisconsin’s Highest Honor

Frievalt has also been asked by The Professional Photographers Association (PPA) as a Powerhouse Speaker for the Imaging USA Convention in Phoenix, Arizona. He holds the title of Top Ten Imager at the PPA North Central Print Competition in Iowa, where over ten states and areas of Canada submit photography…and he is right here in De Pere!

Dan’s formal education includes an Associate degree in Marketing Communications and has worked as a Graphic Artist for 12 years before changing his career path to photography in 2005.

I was honored to spend a week in Sacramento California where I taught and shared my passion for high school senior photography. It sure was a nice treat to get out of the cold winter weather here in Wisconsin and spend a few days in sunny California! I met a bunch of new friends and also got to spend a little time with my fellow After Dark Mentor James Hays. He is a super talented photographer and it was great to finally see his studio, which is amazing btw!
I had about 75 professional photographers attend my lecture on High School Senior Photography and the Artistic Experience, then on day two I had another 15 attend my full day workshop where I showed how I photograph my dancers and create my Artistic Montages. We had a blast and I would like to thank Traci Kinny for suggesting me to come and share my photography insights with the Professional Photographers of Sacramento Valley.
