I was so excited and a more then a little shocked when PPA contacted me and said they wanted to put my image on the cover of the July issue of their Professional Photographer magazine!!! Then they later contacted me and said they wanted to do a full length story about by style of photography, double thrilled!! Here is the PPA July Article of the final images and story that they ran about Frievalt Photography.
Here is the Cover and the info that was printed on the inside of the cover:
July 2013 cover image ©Dan Frievalt. Dan Frievalt captured “Vacancy” in an abandoned farmhouse in rural Wisconsin, and the image merited in PPA’s 2012 International Photographic Competition. “I had always wanted to shoot in this old house, and I found the perfect model, Jaci, who produced just the right amount of emotion,” he says. “I processed the image with a green tone to harmonize with the wallpaper and to add a slight eerie feel.” Frievalt used the natural light of two windows on either side of the model just out of the frame and a 4×6-foot Larson reflector to bounce in fill light. He took the shot from a low angle at f/4.0 for 1/400 second, ISO 800. “What is super cool is that this was the fist shoot I did with the new Canon 5D Mark II and 24-105mm lens that I won from the Canon Par Excellence Award,” says Frievalt. Frievalt will be a speaker at Imaging USA in Phoenix, Ariz., Jan 12-14, 2014.
As you can see I was still pretty excited when I my issue arrived in the mail!
