nLIGHTn Tour {green bay photographer}

New to my speaking circuit is the nLIGHTn Tour which consists of three award winning photographers all working together to education in three different areas. Pierre Stephenson is teaching low light photography, Michael Mowbray is showing how to use speed lights in any lighting condition and I am showing how I use natural light and strobes outdoor to overpower the sun. Our first tour stop was in Milwaukee, WI were we had 43 eager to learn photographers for two days exploring how to look at light from three very different ways. I am super excited about the learning potential of this tour and how it can help photographers all over better understand light and how to use it anywhere and at anytime. Here are some of my favorite images from the day.

Dance team art {de pere photographer}

I always loved to photograph dancers and this spring I had a chance to do some artwork for All That Dance in De Pere. I pitched my concept to Sharon the dance instructor and she was super excited. I shot all the girls in the studio and then later worked my photography, art and photoshop magic to create these images for their walls at the studio. I am super pumped on how they turned out. I was also blown away on how amazing each dancer was and how they preformed for me. Thank you ladies, you all are phenomenal dancers!

Kodak Gallery Award {green bay photographer}

I was honored to win the Kodak Gallery Award again this year for my image Fallen Angel. This image as well as my other images that won several awards was very personal for me this year. Fallen Angel is not intended to be anti-religious in any shape or form. The message I wanted to convey is that when times are rough we can feel broke down and out, but if we have faith all will be taken care of…even in hardship we can forgiven. I had some rough times this year, but with my faith I was able to rise and feel very blessed.

Kodak Recognizes Green Bay Artist

Dan Frievalt wins second consecutive national “Kodak Gallery Award” for photographic excellence

Green Bay, WI – Local artist, Dan Frievalt of Frievalt Photography, received 14 awards including the highly coveted “Kodak Gallery Award” for photographic excellence at the recent North central District Photographic Competition held by the Professional Photographers of America on February 23rd-26th. Frievalt won the “Kodak Gallery Award” for his image “Fallen Angel”. This is the second consecutive “Kodak Gallery Award” Frievalt has received.

The “Gallery Award” was introduced by Kodak in 1985 in an effort to honor and promote the importance of values and excellence in professional photography. It is considered to be one of the industry’s highest levels of recognition. More than 850 images were judged from 10 states, and only one image from the portrait category, Frievalt’s “Fallen Angel”, was awarded the “Kodak Gallery Award”. The image scored 96 points out of 100 in the competition. “It’s always exciting and thrilling to watch your print get judged by the esteemed panel of judges that are at these competitions. It’s cool when your image is challenged and you hear the judges talk about how the image moved them. That is the real thrill for me, “said Frievalt.

Frievalt prides himself in his ability to blend creative light with graphic design to create artistic images that evoke drama and tell a story. “Photography has been by passion since I got my first camera as a teenager. The last few years, I have been blessed to share the passion with others,” explained Frievalt.
